why choose us

We are super excited that you are considering us or have already chosen us as your pediatric group!  We sincerely appreciate your trust, your confidence, and we want you to know that it is a privilege for us to take care of your children.  We are dedicated and caring pediatricians who are also moms.  We understand your excitement and fear that comes with parenting!  We hope that you will let us help take care of your child from birth to 18 years old.

If you already know Dr. Sprenkle and Dr. Buchholz, you know that we strive to provide high quality care for your child.  Over the years, we have tried to create a different type of pediatric practice.  We see less patients per day than most peds docs; therefore, spending more time with our patients and families and hopefully, that also means less wait time for you.   We pride ourselves on these features, and we certainly hope it shows.  We also believe that parents should be active in making decisions about their child’s healthcare. We don’t believe in unnecessary testing or medications for your child. We would not consider an option for your child that we wouldn’t do for own children. Please know that we have always wanted to give you our best and that is what your child deserves.  Our number one priority is the health of your child.  – Thanks again

insurance

We accept the following primary types of insurance:

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Aetna
  • Cigna
  • United Healthcare
  • Tricare Prime and Standard
  • Humana

You can check your provider list or call our office if you have any questions about additional types of insurance.

Payment, insurance billing & collections

We will always bill your insurance, but depending on your coverage, deductibles, etc, you may be asked to pay a co-pay, co-insurance, or a remaining balance.  Please understand that you are ultimately responsible for your bill.   For us to keep the lights on, we have to collect balances … just like your accountant and plumber.  We wish we could survive on hugs, cards and cookies … but we count on the collections to stay open and deliver the level of care for you child that you expect and deserve.

what to expect at appointments

Well Child / Physicals – It is our privilege to see your child from birth until they turn 18 years old. At well child visits, expect us to weigh and measure your child, do blood pressure and vision screening (age appropriate for these, of course), and do a physical exam. We will discuss well child topics such as growth and development, dental care, pertinent topics for age, and immunizations…just to name a few. Believe it or not, we have a lot to cover at these visits and often feel like we don’t have time to fit in everything. As parents, you often have concerns as well. Although we would love to address each and every concern you have at that very moment, if your concerns are more of an ill or injured nature or need more time to address, you should schedule a sick/acute visit. Please understand that we are simply trying to do a good and thorough job, but are also asking you to be considerate of other parents’ time!

Sick Visits – Kids get sick no matter how well you care for them and protect them, and we appreciate your trust and confidence in allowing us to diagnosis and manage their illnesses appropriately.  Depending on your child’s symptoms and exam findings, your child may need symptom treatment, medications, and/or further testing (labs and/or x-rays).  Sometimes all your child needs is hugs and kisses from you . . . we always recommend this by the way.  Antibiotics are sometimes needed, but less often than many believe.  We’re here to make sure your child gets the best treatment possible based upon the latest medical recommendations and treatment protocols.  We want them feeling better and healthy as quickly as possible, and we’ll discuss our thoughts and recommendations with you and encourage you to help us make decisions as much as possible!

Immunization Visits – These are often called “shot only” appointments in our office.  For example, a flu vaccine often falls into this category.  This is an appointment with the nurse, and it does not show up on the doctor’s schedule.  It is important to us that we avoid long wait times for our patients, so if you believe your child is ill, please call the office so we can change your appointment to a time that works with all of our schedules.  As with all appointments, we count on these for scheduling purposes so if you are unable to come, please let us know as soon as possible.
